 RENAISSANCE SNIPER

My 'sniper' would lob a primitive napalm bomb into the already highly inflammable studio containing Mr. Leonardo da Vinci in the act of painting his subject, Mrs. Mona Lisa, incinerating both the artist and his model. The ramification of such a well timed, cunning and brutal foreshortening of one of the Renaissance's most prolific artists and scientists would have several positive effects...

The most advantageous has to be the destruction of one of the most highly over-rated and unremarkable portraits ever made, thus freeing a great many deluded and unimaginative art historians and allowing them to find a new, undoubtedly equally over rated and inane object to lavish their ever-so-insightful and interesting judgements upon.

The second would be the unfortunate destruction of da Vinci's astoundingly interesting, vivid and enjoyable treatise on painting... removing me from the ever pleasurable obligation of reading and trying to understand just what he is trying to say.

Having completed this mission my canny Scottish sniper jumps in his time machine and proceeds to the caravan of one Sister Wendy Beckett, champion of Renaissance art history and the bane of weekend t.v. in Britain. Welding her caravan door shut with her feeble personage inside, the sniper calmly places a ton of semtex under her caravan and sends her to meet and discuss how 'simply wonderful' art is with her maker.
