I have a big bias. I think that art history should serve art and not vice versa.
In that vein, Sabartes.com is a website dedicated to a collaborative history of new media and postmodernism
I launched Sabartes this January , currently it only has links to artists I’ve been working with and my students in my Postmodernism class will be posting criticism on it this semester.
I started with two of my colleagues – Petronio Bendito and Charles Gick, which makes sense given their proximity. I am also working with Chicago-based artist Jason Salavon.
I don’t conduct interviews, but have conversations (and sometimes write with the artist present) to create true collaborations. What is written becomes a combination of what I have to say and what the artist has to say—and in really good work exactly who
