19th & 20th-century sculpture (group independent study)

***you need to consult with me on a weekly basis regarding your reading of the course material. (that is the only way you'll know that you are assimilating the material necessary for successful exams!***

course requirements:

  • midterm exam (on material in Curtis) 100 points
  • final exam (on material in Causay) 100 points
  • project 100 points

 

Project:

1. Develop analysis strategy for works of sculpture. This should organize in a concise way important components like style, subject matter, purpose, historical/cultural context etc.

2. Apply your analysis strategy to at least ten of the following artists, choosing from the designated groups. It will be necessary to conduct research on each of the ten.

You will need to choose one or more works by each of your ten artists to explain/interpret carefully in conjunction with your analysis.
